With a stellar cast comprising of stalwarts like Jimmy Shergill, Gul Panag, Sharad Kelkar, Spruha Joshi, Harsh Chhaya, and Sushant Singh, Rangbaaz Phirse like its predecessor picks up from where season 1 left off with Amarpal Singh, the character portrayed by Jimmy Shergill surrendering to the police in exchange of a political career. Throughout the nine episodes of the season, the audience is spellbound how Amarpal Singh’s new life turns out as a politician and the events thereafter. Each episode runs for approximately 35 minutes and is bound to keep you at the edge of your seat with its suspense and breathtaking performances from its coveted cast. The show is meant for Matured audiences only owing to its graphic content and strong language but is a must-watch for lovers of the genre.
On a personal note, I have not watched anything with similar content earlier, and hence this show resulted in being an absolute eye-opener about the politics and the culture of the region. The depiction of their law and order and its corrupt political leaders is quite relatable and bears many real references. The dialogues are well-written and crisp and although comprising of strong elements of colloquialism is attuned to the practices of the people residing in the area. The characters portrayed by the main protagonists -Jimmy Shergill and Gul Panag are extremely well rendered and strike a chord with the audience for their execution. The show kept me at the edge of my seat for its entire duration of about 35 minutes until the last episode of the current season, which by the way is one to watch out for with its unexpected cliffhanger. During these trying times of self-isolation and social distancing, a little quarantine binge watch never hurts and with a show like Rangbaaz Phirse, trust me your satisfaction is beyond guaranteed.
