Bravo! Asparagus @ Azure, Taj Yeshwanthpur
The on-going Asparagus Festival at Azure, Taj Yeshwanthpur is something to talk about. Located at level 1, Azure boasts of contemporary minimal chic décor with a private dining room and an Al-Fresco section to its credit. The special tasting in question brings forth one of the quintessential elements of Asian Cuisine-Asparagus to the forefront of traditional Italian dishes.
We started with a very simple yet elegant Cream of Asparagus with Goat Cheese Dumplings and Truffle Oil. My Chardonnay from Yellow Tail was just the right choice to compliment the earthy flavours which were to follow.
Appetisers showed up in full valour in the form of Pan Seared Scallops with Cauliflower and Asparagus Puree-another ecstatic dish enough to initiate foodgasms.
Asparagus Risotto and Lobster Ravioli were our Prima courses for Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian palette respectively and were equally commendable in terms of flavours and aroma. I did indulge a bit too much with the Ravioli as Lobster to me is Seafood Divino.
The Secondi for Mains started with another pour of my vino and the Pan Seared Garlic Butter Prawns, Sautéed green Asparagus Salad with Balsamic sauce made their presence felt with a subtle explosion of flavours in my mouth. It was however the Paupiette of Tenderloin with Asparagus and Red Wine Jus which was my choice of meat for the evening. The Chicken Breast stuffed with Asparagus duxelles were succulent and delectable.
The Vegetarian Mains included a very fluffy Asparagus Feuillet with Fricassee which melt in my mouth and was quite a joy. This was followed by the Ricotta and Asparagus Pie with Saffron sauce to add to the jewel in the crown for the evening.
Summer is synonymous with Mango and our dessert was no exception to that. Vanilla Panna Cotta with Mango coulis formed our sweet endings with much pomp in presentation accompanied by an edible spoon made of dark chocolat, a simple element of surprise.
The Asparagus Festival ends today April 15 2018 and is available as Ala Carte orders. I would definitely hope and pray the menu is brought back real soon on popular demand.
