Staycation @ Wonderla, Bangalore

Wonderla, India’s premier Amusement Park is located about 30 km from Bangalore at Bidadi enroute Mysore. Apart from the water amusement park, Wonderla resorts are fully equipped with facilities to host families visiting the property deciding to stay back for a night or so.

The Resort section is a few hundred metres before the Park and overlooks the picturesque rides especially the Sky Wheel which stands at 13 floors high. I was accommodated at the 5th floor overlooking this beauty.

The rooms are at par with standard deluxe category of an equivalent Business Class hotel and offer all the amenities including a choice of two single or one double bed. As we arrived late afternoon to the property, it was time for a quick snack at their Woods Restaurant at the lobby level overlooking the plush pool.

I was under the weather and decided to go for a very simple Caesar Salad with Prawns and a glass of warm Brandy with Honey. The Salad was cooked to perfection and the warm concoction is just what I needed for instant relief from cold.

Dinner was supposed to be serving at the terrace level overlooking the Sky Wheel, but owing to my deteriorating health e decided to move back to the restaurant indoors. I decided to stick to a plate of Fish Fingers served with Garlic Mayonnaise. All the portions served are family size and can easily be shared by a couple and an accompanying child. I also ordered the Mutton Sheekh Kebab as an extension to Appetisers and they were succulent and melted in my mouth.

For Mains, I stuck to a very simple serving of Peas Pulao and Kashmiri Dum Aloo. It was quite authentic to its taste, balanced with the sweet notes of the dish. I ordered the Malabar Fish Curry with Plain Rice from the Non Vegetarian section. The curry was perfectly seasoned and the fish cubes cooked to tender. I decided to enjoy a warm plate of Gulab Jamun for desserts to treat my cold with care and affection.

The stay was comfortable and the service prompt. Being unwell, I tried to depart a bit early the next morning but the rain gods played spoiled sport on our plan. It was quite a good experience with their impeccable service, hospitality and attention to detail. I look forward to visiting the property again really soon for probably a couple of nights to enjoy all the facilities that the Resort and the Amusement Park has to offer.
