An Aristocratic Decadence @ Kopper Kadai

Chef Akshay Nayyar and his flagship Kopper Kadai, located at the heart of Koramangala has already established a niche position for itself for North West Frontier cuisine with a contemporary twist. It was a celebratory occasion last month to introduce their new menu where I was invited along with fellow food enthusiast to have a taste of what was to expect. And I must say, it is phenomenal to say the least.

The Soiree started with pass arounds of signature Mocktails along with a few Appetisers making their gracious entrance. The Scotch Eggs with an Indian feel-Andey Ka Fanda was my personal favourite, although the Nadru Ki Chaat and the Pesto Soya Chhaap made its mark among the vegetarian entrees. The Jwalamukhi and the Takatak Paneer Tikka were old favourites revived with a fresh new vigour and appeal, in true Akshay style.

Among the Non Vegetarian Kebabs, It was the Murgh Korma and the Boti Sheekh Kebab which thoroughly satiated my palette. The Haryali Macchi Tikka and the Palak Malai Bhurji were significant new additions.

The Mains were adorned by dishes that stood out not only with their Shahi nomenclature, but also traditional classic appeal. The Baadshahi Paneer Rubiyan and the Warqi Dal E Dastaan are best enjoyed with Butter Naan or Stuffed Indian breads.

It was a dish that is named after my last name-Choudhary ka Chicken that took my tongue away with its earthy flavours and grand presentation. The Gobi Chicken and the Indian version of Lamb Chops-Pashmeena Nalli Gosht were close contenders to the throne. The Laal Maans, the traditional Rajasthani favourite is something to look forward to and the newly introduced Kopper Kadai Biryani is simply sumptuous.

The sweet endings were too good to be true and the Nutella Dodha Lava formed the right conclusions to this eponymous tasting. Some of the significant Mocktails include the Chiller Chai which can be paired with the meats especially to balance out the flavours and the Kashmiri Kiss which is equally noteworthy.

The new menu is already live for almost a fortnight now and is available for Ala Carte for Lunch and Dinner. A big shoutout to Akshay for adding another feather to his cap and for Dushyant Chillale for organising this tasting session.
